I have just read a somewhat amazing book – It is from the Amazing People Club and apparently, there are a number of amazing books that have been penned by Dr. Charles Margerison. He uses this approach called a BIOVIEW (which apparently is a registered trademark ) and basically exposes the reader to key people in history, literature, and culture, and provides a synopsis of that person’s impact and influence on a certain period of history.
Let me provide two examples. Two of the Amazing People of London are obviously Charles Dickens and Winston Churchill. So, what Margerison does is he provides an overview of the lives of these two individuals and casts them in a historical light, while at the same time depicts their impact and influence on London. Add to that, the book provides very nicely done drawing of parts of the city of London- such as Marble Arch, Tower Bridge, Covent Garden, St Paul’s Cathedral- and he links these places with individuals that have been involved with these historic landmarks.
Now, I have to say I am biased, because like many other people, I like the city of London. I like to roam around, enjoy the museums, talk to the shopkeepers and wander the art galleries. But, I really do like this book- as it is readable and enjoyable and personable. And I have to admit, I learned a lot about the city of London and the people of London- information that I will take back with me on my next trip to that great city.
Apparently, there are other books in this series, so I am excited to read about the Amazing People of Paris and Rome and New York. This “ Amazing People Club “ is an attempt to educate individuals about amazing careers, engineers, scientists, leaders, musicians, and aviators.
The combination of pictures, the readability levels, and just the interesting stories really makes for a wonderful book. I learned a lot about London, the places of London and the people of London. I, like Walter Besant ( an English novelist and historian ) would like to say that “I have been walking about London…and I find something fresh in it every day “ I have in fact, been taking the tube, and riding the buses, and have also been walking around London for some time and this book has added to my genuine pleasure about the city and about learning about the inhabitants and the famous amazing people of the city ! Well done Dr. Margerison ! Keep up the amazing writing and the amazing stories and pictures !

From Amazing Women Book Review - The Book Bag NOVEMBER 2010
“......these stories are in the first person, almost as if they were giving an interview. It works because it gives a nice, personal angle and it serves to draw the reader right into the centre of that person's life. I also liked the style and the presentation on the page. Very easy to read, but then, that's the whole point. And I'm all for that. The reader is not ploughing through large sections of researched material......”

The Amazing People’s Club book is a wonderful, simple and easy to understand......the past and very prominent characters. The book includes well-know characters such as Elvis Presley or Charles Darwin...... The book is written as if the “famous” person is speaking. It is written in first person as if they were telling you their life story. I enjoyed that personal touch...... I would recommend the Amazing People’s Club book series to parents, teachers and lovers of History. It will definitely enlighten you on the past.
